Have you ever noticed those people whom you see jogging day after day? They are the ones who seem not to need to jog. But that’s why they are fit. Those who are wealthy work at staying financially fit – “The Millionaire Next Door”
While reading this in “The Millionaire Next Door” I realized that this can be applied to Covey’s “Four Dimensions of Renewal” where he discusses “the greatest asset you have – you.” He talks about the four dimensions of your nature – physical, spiritual, mental, and social/emotional. And all of those need to be “fit,” don’t they?
You could rewrite those words and insert each of the four dimensions:
Have you ever noticed those people whom you see [Planning], [Praying], [Serving], [Eating Healthy], [Meditating], [Exercising], [etc.] day after day?
My insight was this: Apply the fitness motif to the 4 key areas of life that Covey talks about. But really, when you look at the key areas, wealth is missing on it’s own. I’m not sure how it fits in… is it physical? mental? spiritual? Hard to say – it really flows out of all of these areas.
Suffice it to say that the following is true:
- Have you ever noticed those people whom you see praying and meditating day after day? They are the ones who seem not to need to pray or meditate. But that’s why they are close to God.
- Have you ever noticed those people whom you see exercising day after day? They are the ones who seem not to need to exercise. But that’s why they are fit.
- Have you ever noticed those people whom you see learning and growing day after day? They are the ones who seem not to need to learn and grow. But that’s why they are wise.
- Have you ever noticed those people whom you see eating healthy day after day? They are the ones who seem not to need to worry about it. But that’s why they are healthy.
Interesting?
